We would like to extend a super grateful “Thank You” to James with the local chapter of HVHF for the invitation to attend and engage with the public regarding this very special endeavor.

The US Patriot Fund, Inc. would like to also extend a special “Thank You” to Dad’s Cigar Warehouse for a special door prize of a custom cigar sampler.

The Hudson Valley chapter of the Honor Flight held their annual fund raising and awareness event. Beautiful skys kept the Summer temps cool while bands played on while contributors enjoyed custom crafted Cidery selections and tasty thin crust pizza offerings.

Great attendance and increased awareness for the Veterans of America.

Speaking of American Veterans.

The following story was told directly to us and its 93 year old author was as sharp as a tack when reminiscing.

His name is Don.

He was a Navy Corsair pilot during the Korean conflict.

Synopsis; he was shot down three times behind enemy lines and received three purple hearts.

The nuances of the human tragedy encountered during each mission are too much to bear, much less write here for the world to read.

Suffice it to say, Don was as humble as every Veteran you will ever meet. Not ONE Veteran we’ve ever encountered said anything more than, “I did nothing. I was just doing my job.” WTF?

There IS an amazing twist to Don’s story,

He approached us later that day with another gentleman at his side. The man is a devil dog. He was trapped behind enemy lines in Korea, in a river where the water temp was sub-zero causing him to suffer frostbite in his extremeties. He survived by the grace of ONE miracle.

Covering fire from Don’s corsair.

Only NINE years ago, the two were miraculously reunited through their local VFW.

When asked about his story, the devil dog remarked with only, “I didn’t do anything. I was just doing my job.”

‘merica.
