What an intern for Congressman Mike Lawler did for Veterans.

What an intern for Congressman Mike Lawler did for Veterans.

Hi!

My name is Erin H, and I’m a sophomore at the College of Charleston studying Political Science. This past summer, I had the privilege of interning for Congressman Mike Lawler, where I focused on constituent services and worked closely on veteran-related cases.

During that time, I met John Baglivi with the US Patriot Fund and connected with him through Sean Glendening. After hearing John speak about the Borden Avenue Veterans Residence, I was inspired to organize a donation drive for the shelter. I created an Amazon wishlist and worked with my family and community to assemble 160 gift bags for the veterans living there.

This project has been incredibly meaningful to me—not only because my father and brother are both veterans, but because my family has always encouraged me to give back.

Their support, along with what I learned through my internship, helped me turn this idea into something that truly makes a difference for those who have served our country.

THANK YOU ERIN FOR YOUR AMAZING EFFORT AND SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY!
